Desert Edge Towing: From New Name to the Top of Local Search

Desert Edge Towing opened in a market where towing companies from outside the county, some of them statewide and national operations, held the top spots. In towing, whoever shows up first gets the call, because nobody stranded on the side of the road scrolls to the second page.

Today Desert Edge holds a top-three spot in local search across Tooele County, and Google quotes them in its AI answers.

Nobody Calls the New Guy

Towing is an emergency purchase. Your customer is cold, late, and already annoyed. They search once, they call one of the first names they see, and the decision takes about fifteen seconds.

That makes a new towing company a hard sell twice over. You are invisible in the search results, and even when someone finds you, they have never heard your name. The companies above you have years of reviews and a head start.

Looking Local On Purpose

Here is the piece most towing marketing skips. We photographed their trucks around Tooele County at places people here recognize on sight: the Bonneville Salt Flats, and the Great Salt Lake along the I-80 stretch everybody drives coming home.

A stock photo of a tow truck on a generic highway tells a local driver nothing. A photo of that same truck with scenery they drive past every day tells them two things before they read a word: these people are close, and these people are ours. In a county this size, that matters more than any slogan. People would rather back their neighbor than a company from the other side of the valley running a call center.

What We Built

We rebuilt the website around what people actually search during a breakdown: the service, the town, and a phone number a thumb can hit in one tap.

Then the local groundwork. Google Business Profiles set up and tuned for each city they serve. On-page work so every page says plainly what they do and where. Local signals lining up across the web so Google could tell this was a real business operating in Tooele County. A call center that forwards jobs to whoever is closest never builds that footprint.

Timing the Work to Real Demand

Towing demand moves with the weather and the calendar. First hard freeze, holiday travel, the first snow on the canyon roads, and the phone behaves differently.

We watched Google Trends and the search data and pointed the work at what people were searching that month instead of guessing in January what July would want. That is the difference between content that sits there and content that lands the week people need it.

Quoted in Google's AI Answers

More searches now open with an AI-written summary above the regular results. Businesses that get named in that summary get found. Everyone else gets scrolled past.

Desert Edge now appears in those AI Overviews for local towing searches. That comes from the same work underneath: clear pages that answer the actual question, a consistent local footprint, and information Google can trust enough to repeat.

What This Took

A website rebuild, local SEO, Google Business Profile work, on-location photography, and a content plan timed to real demand.

The services behind it: local SEO, web design, and photo and video production. None of it works alone. The photos build the trust, the site turns that trust into a call, and the SEO puts both in front of somebody standing next to a car that will not start.
